Grateful Heart

Grateful Heart

I came from fortuity, like a grain of sad dust.
Nobody seen to know my frailty.
Where did I come from, where's my heart going
Who is calling me, waiting for me.

Heaven to earth is wide, but it's hard to walk through.
I see the world full of frustrations and toil.
How much love I have, how many tear's I'll weep.
Get the heaven to know i'll never give up.

My thankful heart.Grateful to you.
Keep me company, let me brave to be myself.
My thankful heart, grateful to fate.
blooming of fading, i'll still cherish them.

Introduction to Pinyin

Pinyin is a system for writing standard Mandarin Chinese using the Roman alphabet. Pinyin was developed by the People’s Republic of China in 1958, and implemented in 1979. It is used exclusively in mainland China to this day. Over the years pinyin has become widely accepted by the international community, replacing older systems of Romanization such as the Wade-Giles system.

It is important to remember that although pinyin uses the same letters as European languages, the sounds those letters represent are the sounds of Mandarin Chinese. Thus some letters may not make the sounds you expect. It is important that you pay close attention to how each letter of pinyin is pronounced, as you cannot read pinyin as if it were English.

Download our Pinyin Chart at one of the links below or browse the links on the right.

A man who raised sheep once noticed there was a hole in the walls of his sheepfold. But he neglected to repair it. A few days later, several sheep were missing. His friend advised him: "It is not too late to mend the sheepfold." "Wang Yang Bu Lao" or "Mending the sheepfold after the sheep have been stolen" advises us that even though we have suffered a loss, it is never too late to take steps to prevent further losses.

画龙点睛(hua long dian jing)

There was a painter in ancient China who was especially adept at painting dragons.  Many people, from emperors to Buddhist priests, hired him to decorate their residences, temples, and murals with his artwork.

One day, as the painter was finishing up a mural of four dragons, people walking by noticed that he left the eyes of the dragons unpainted.  “How come you are leaving the eyes blank?” the people asked.

The painter replied that if he drew the eyes of the dragons in, the dragons would fly away into the sky.  The people were incredulous and urged the painter to finish his mural, so the painter sighed and drew in the eyes of two of the four dragons.

As soon as he finished with the eyes of the second dragon, the clouds in the sky darkened and the winds began gusting.  Lightning streaked across the sky and at the clap of thunder that followed, the people saw the two dragons separate themselves from the mural, and fly up into the sky.
画龙点睛 later became a chengyu that indicated that extra touch, that special something, when used at a key moment in a process, (usually storytelling or essay-writing), that makes the work vivid and life-like for the audience or reader.

A long time ago, the god called all the animals together and said, “I will choose 12 animals out of you to take turns to head a year of the cycle, which will be called the Chinese Zodiac.”

The god and the animals decided to hold a river crossing contest on January 1 in Chinese lunar calendar: the first 12 animals that crossed the river and reached the temple would receive their years according to their finish. “I’ll be the first.” “I must win.” All the animals started to argue against each other. Hearing this, the cat was a little upset. He said to his good friend rat, “I can’t swim. What can I do?” “Don’t worry! The ox is a good swimmer. We can ask him to carry us on his back,” said the rat.

On the contest day, all the animals set out very early in hope of arriving at the temple before others.

All of them strived to swim forward. Ox swam the fastest. Suddenly, the rat on his back got a bad idea. He pushed the cat off into the river. The poor cat swallowed a lot of water.

The ox reached the river bank in a while and was set to win the contest. But the cunning rat jumped off his back and rushed to the temple first. “I win! I am the first!” he said proudly.

The rest of animals arrived one after another in a few minutes.

“According to our agreement, the first 12 animals can take turns to be king of a year, and your names will be the name of a year. Let’s start from this year.” “Rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and the last one pig,” the god announced the order. The 12 selected animals were all delighted.

At that moment, the drenched cat rushed in and asked anxiously, “Which place did I get?” The god answered, “You are too late. It’s over.”

Furious, the cat pounced on the rat. Knowing that it was his fault, the rat had to escape. From then on, all the cats will chase the rats and the rats have no choice but to run.
